Books On Government Conspiracies
Should I trust my dad?

I really like my dad. He's a smart scientist and he is a nice guy to talk to. The thing is that he's been getting into these government conspiracy books and he's going to stockpile on canned food. He says that in the next few years we're going to end up in a very deep recession and that we need to prepare ourselves for it. I questioned him on this and he said "this is the one time you just need to trust your dad."

So what is your view on this?

Today's economy and world events are scaring lots of people. As the year 2000 approached, with the 'Y2K' scare, there was the same uncertain feeling, and people did the same kind of thing as your dad. Overall, it's harmless, as long as he doesn't become overly paranoid or obsessive about it.
The worst thing mat be that you'll have lots of canned goods to eat up in a year or two ,or you could donate them to a food bank and make it a positive.
Some experts are saying that families should have a sixty day supply of food, water and other essentials just in case of some catastrophic event such as an economic crisis, natural disaster,etc..
So maybe your dad is just being cautious for your family's sake!
